Hershey kisses that melt on a warm window sill,
in July on a hot summer day,
for it’s just like the worries of some leaders in Springfield,
as their money concerns melt away.
Just imagine the delightful relief when they heard,
of a plan being hatched by the Feds,
that Medicaid grants could start rolling in,
to each state even those in the red.
“By God it’s a miracle!!” you can hear them cry out
as far away as Champaign.
For just as an addict relieved with his fix,
money is Springfield’s cocaine.
It’s been decades now that this Structure of Power
has ruled with an iron fist.
And look where it’s got us, Illinoisans held hostage,
by a decades old Structural Cyst.
So if cash grants are made, or if taxes increased,
Illinoisans respectfully request …
… no new money comes … ’til that Structural Cyst …
is properly lanced and addressed.
