One blade broke – it was three hundred fifty feet long;
everyone knew – something clearly went wrong.
But the sun was bright,
no storm in sight.
The windfarm was humming,
power up and running –
future was close
off of Nantucket’s coast.
And then they lost power
from the almighty towers
that worshipped the wind
with their powerful spins.
When the windfarm shut down
the people in town
became green power spoilers –
fired up their boilers.
The damage and cost had a far and surprising reach,
including fiberglass shards and foam on the beach.
Why rush to kill our power from fossil fuel?
No backup for broken blades – let’s not be fools.
