Increase the minimum wage, is what we often hear.
For those who work and aren’t paid much,
that option seems quite clear.
The employers have the money, why shouldn’t they pay more?
Just take it from the profits,
should have thought of that before.
But first let’s ask an owner, who’s into lemonade.
For each cup sold, clears 15 cents,
she thinks she has it made.
And Billy who is 5 years old, has it made as well.
Each cup he sells, he makes a dime,
and everything is swell.
But Billy’s older sibling, thinks it isn’t fair.
Billy’s at the stand all day,
and the owner seldom there.
So Billy’s bully sibling, tells the owner to be fair.
Pay Billy more and you take less,
or Billy won’t be there.
The owner states “that’s fine by me, I’ll shut the whole thing down.
My back’s sore hauling water,
from the other side of town.”
So Billy’s sibling is quite pleased, owner’s back well healed with time.
While Billy cries and sadly spends,
his one, last lonely dime.
