Our fortunes have unfolded not as well,
\nas leaders in the past promised surely that they would.
\nOur wealth has faltered, expenses with persistence swells,
\nas some leaders of today decree that all is good.<\/p>\n
Fresh change we sense as two candidates debate.
\nOne calls our course as true and all is safe and well.
\nThe other fumes and swears to make our country great,
\nand sees the status quo as toxic, bid adieu and straight to hell.<\/p>\n
So stay the weakened course we tread today?
\nOr in silence vote for change from what we’ve lived?
\nFor to not, we’ll with our children’s future pay,
\npray tell why not to them, a brighter future give?<\/p>\n
Perhaps a risky gamble to escape our fate,
\nis wiser than accepting the status quo as bait.<\/p>\n
