Since the start of the ages this human affliction
of slavery became an abhorrent addiction.
Where a person with power from luck of the draw,
would dictate to another … daily random new law.
This monstrous arrangement served slave owners well
… no matter the slaves left living in hell.
But the spark that is freedom that lives in us all,
at times through the ages answers the call.
There were some who fought back … but were beaten back down,
as the owner stood tall … mocked the slave on the ground.
So tragic, if stories of courage from old,
might be lost to the ages, and never be told.
But that won’t be the case, if we all agree
the beginning of the end was in ’63.
And it was old Bob Lee who stood in the way …
and grand statues of him still stand today.
Now recall that he stood for inhuman conditions …
and let his statue remain … but with one slight addition.
Dred Scott he fought back, but do you know his name?
He beat old Bob Lee, that is cause for acclaim!
Dred needs a statue, built right in Bob’s face,
and build Dred a bit taller, to look down at Bob’s place.
Wherever Bob stands, build a statue for Dred
… now THAT tells a story why slavery is dead!
