Polarity, dissent and partisan antics,
keeps us on our toes.
Accusations and dirt,
we’re all on alert.
busy tracking political foes.
What is the glue that holds us together,
to keep the country out of the drain?
It’s not easy to see,
why the land of the free,
is not yet completely insane.
The glue is all lathered in you and in me,
and in those who still believe,
that peaceful dissension,
is the secret dimension,
that’s missed by the lost and naive.
Those who are lost, take freedoms away,
from the ones who do not agree.
Because they’re not sure,
they could endure,
an open discussion that’s free.
So watch out for the lost who see open debate,
as something they must prevent.
With opinions so pure,
they’re quite insecure,
why else would they stifle dissent?
Is peaceful dissension still allowed on the campus?
Is it a freedom to which we agree?
Wouldn’t stifling a voice,
to limit a choice,
shut down the land of the free?

college campuses – supposedly the bastion of free thinking and ideas of wonderfully different persuasions, a place to experience so much variety of ideas …. Has become the new home of the thought police.
“if you differ from me you are a terrible person.”
How did this happen while we were watching??????
Awareness grows ….. i.e. check out NYTimes 8/26/16 article by Saul, Smith and Perez… or do a search on Dr. Zimmer and Univ of Chicago and his recent WSJ article… or read Kirsten Powers book The Silencing. People are beginning to watch … and respond.
